Ground-breaking research on a Wiradjuri burial site located at Garra TSR (Travelling Stock Route),NSW, could soon reveal new insights into traditional funeral practices, highlighting the importance of Aboriginal cultural heritage in the Central Tablelands region of NSW.

The La Trobe university archaeology used ground penetrating radar to locate burial sites, focusing initially on a carved tree and burial mound, believed to mark the grave of a highly respected Aboriginal man.

Wiradjuri man and Senior Land Services Officer (Indigenous Communities), Greg Ingram and Senior Wiradjuri Elder James Williams, both spoke with CAAMA's Josef Jakamarra Egger about the significance of this groundbreaking research.
